Britney SpearsI Sold a Piece of Me … and the Whole Damn Catalog!!!
Britney Spears has reportedly signed a major new music deal, selling her ownership share of her extensive catalog in what sources are calling a “landmark” agreement. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the Princess of Pop sold her rights to music publisher Primary Wave, marking one of the most significant business moves of her career.
While the exact financial terms were not disclosed, insiders say the deal is believed to be in the range of the massive $200 million agreement Justin Bieber secured when he sold his catalog.
The paperwork shows that Britney finalized the deal on December 30. Managed by Cade Hudson, the pop icon is reportedly pleased with the decision and has been celebrating the milestone by spending time with her children. Sources close to the situation describe her as happy and confident about this new chapter in her professional and personal life.
The sale includes many of Britney’s biggest global hits that helped define pop music over the past two decades. Songs such as “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “Toxic,” “Gimme More,” “Womanizer,” “Circus,” “Stronger,” and “I’m a Slave 4 U” are part of the catalog. These tracks not only shaped Britney’s legendary career but also left a lasting impact on the music industry worldwide.

Britney now joins a growing list of major artists who have sold their music catalogs in recent years. Superstars like Justin Bieber, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Shakira, Sting, Phil Collins, Stevie Nicks, and KISS have all entered similar agreements. In 2020, Stevie Nicks sold 80% of her publishing rights to Primary Wave in a deal reportedly valued at around $100 million.
As of now, representatives for Britney Spears and Primary Wave have not publicly commented on the agreement. However, the move signals a powerful financial and strategic step for the pop icon, further solidifying her legacy as one of the most influential and commercially successful artists of her generation.
